This time of year, warm-season turf grass, especially zoysia, often suffers from large patch disease. This fungal disease appears as large, circular patches of discolored orange or yellow turf. If left unchecked, it will continue to spread, damaging or killing the turf it infects.
Large patch is caused by a fungus that lives in turf's thatch layer year-round, activated by the mild, wet climate of spring and fall. Large patch especially thrives in areas with poor drainage or that are improperly fertilized.

The good news is that as temperatures rise, the fungus that causes large patch loses its viability. Zoysia grass naturally spreads and will usually fill in the previously affected area. Mowing your lawn no lower than 1-2 inches, addressing drainage issues, and consulting with Agropro on your fertilization schedule are all great ways to keep large patch at bay.
